John 1:19-28

Throught the verses of John 1:19-28, the Sanhedrin are questioning John about whether or not he is the Christ; which John says that he is not. Also, they ask him if he is Elijah; which again he says that he is not. The (the Sanhedrin) are wanting John to tell them who he really is; in which he replies, "I am the voice of one who is calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.'" After this, some Pharisees questioned him asking, "Why then do you baptize if you are not Christ,, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" John then replies to them saying, "I baptize with water, but among you stands one who you do not know" He is telling them that they will not recognize the Christ.

One of the actions or verbs in a phrase is "Make straight for the way of the Lord." John might be refering to himself here. He is telling them that he is baptizing people to prepare them for when Christ comes.

John 1:14-18

John 1:14-18 says " The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning Him. He cries out saying 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because of what He was before me.'" From the fullness of grace we have all recieved one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made Him known.

The repeated words in the passage include the "One and Only." These verses are saying that God is the one and only person who we should worship and trust.

The actions in these verses are "Full of" the sentence "He came full of grace and truth" is telliing us that Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins and rise on the third day. If Jesus only came with truth, He might have only pointed out our own sins. Instead, He chose to forgive us and died on the cross and rose again on the third day so that if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, as well as believe He died for our sins, we can be with Him eternally after we die on earth.

Another action mentioned in John 1:14-18, is "He came from the Father." This is telling us that God sent Jesus, is one and only son to save us from our sins. This verse is also telling us that Jesus Christ was God's servant in everything He did.

This passage says that God had so much mercy that He was willing to send His son to die on the cross and rise on the third day so that if we "Believe in Him we may not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3"16)

This verse says that man can be saved from death by believing in Jesus' death and resurrection, and by accepting Him as our Lord and Savior.

The promise found in John 1:14-18 is that "He came from the Father full of grace and truth." As mentioned before, Jesus Christ came filled with grace so that we could believe in the death and resurrection, and be saved. If He only came with truth, there might not have been a death and resurrection. But since He came full of grace, we can be saved.

Verse 15 teaches that Jesus was with God even before John was born. John is acknowledging that Christ was before Him by saying that "He who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me."

The similarity of verse 14 and 17 is that the "Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ," while verse 14 says "The Word became flesh and has made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father full of grace and truth." These two verses are refering to God by refering Him to the Word and the Law.

Jesus is called in verse 18, God.

God became flesh through Jesus Christ so that we can believe that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day so that we could be saved.

This passage is designed to teach people that Jesus came full of grace and through that grace, He died and rose again for our sins.

God is telling me in this passage that we are saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that we can have eternal life with Him as well as when we acknowledge Him as our Lord and Savior. (I am also stregthened and encouraged by this)

Pray for NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon to win the Daytona 500 and possibly the championship in 2009

Please pray that Jeff Gordon, who drives the number 24 car in stock car races to win the Daytona 500 and the championship. Jeff really needs a win because did not win any races during the 2008 NASCAR season- He really needs a win (He's my favorite driver).

Thanks

John 1:11-14

John 1"11-14 says "He came to that which was His own, but His own did not recieve Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not recieve Him. Yet to all who recieved Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God- children not

born of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, But born of God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The repeated phrases in these verses are "His own." This is stating that we belong to God and are His. Another word repeated is children. When we accept that Christ died on the cross for our sins and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we are born again in Christ; not human decision; but Through God's grace.

This passage says that God is the Father of His children; people who have accepted that Christ died on the cross for our sins and have acknowledged Him as our Lord and Savior will watch over us and protect us when we need His help.

Also, a different verse says that "The Word became flesh." This phrase is saying that God became flesh (Jesus), came to earth, to die on the cross and rise again on the third day so that if we accept the death and resurrection, we will be saved.

There is a promise in this verse: if we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, and believe that He died on the cross and rose on the third day, we will becom children of God.

One of the verses that talks about Jesus Christ is that "He is full of grace and truth." This part is stating that Christ came to teach the truth about who God really is. When the verse says that "He is full of grace" it is refering to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Out of grace, Chrsit died and rose again on the third day "So that if whoever believes in Him may never die, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Both of these verses in John are sayin that we are given the opportunity in believing in Him and accept Him as our Christ and Savior, we will live with Him in Heaven after we die on earth.

Verses 14 and 1 have a similarity: they are both taking about God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Verse 14 says "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." Verse 14 is saying that God, through Jesus Christ, became flesh and and came to save the world.

In verse 14, Jesus came "filled with grace and truth"

The words "Filled with grace" means that Christ came for the death and resurrection so that if we believe that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day, we will have eternal life with Him in Heaven.

When it says that "He came full of truth," it is sayin that Jesus came to earth perfect in every way and never sinned.

It is imortant that "He came full of grace and truth," because otherwise, He might not have done the death and resurrection. But we know that He did come "Full of grace and truth" because He died for our sins and rose on the third day.

This passage of John 1, is designed to teach the reader that because Christ came "Full of grace and truth" we can be saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."

God is telling me through these verses that we should do more to spread the good news about Christ's death and resurrection so that more people can become children of God and be saved.

I am encouraged by this verse, because it teaches that if we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, as well as believe that He died for our sins and rose on the third day, we will be with Him forever more after we die on earth.

John 1:4-11

The passage of John 1:4-11 is telling us that John came to preach about Jesus coming but the world would not recognize Him because they thought He was going to save them from the Roman Empire at the time. However, He did not come to do that; but he came to die on the cross for our sins and rise again on the third day. This is why Christ's own did not recognize or recieved Him. Also, this says that John came to testify about Christ coming for His death and resurection. John was preparing people at the time to get ready for Christ coming to earth for His resurection.

The repeated words in this passage are the word world. It tells us that "He was in the world, which was made by Him, but the world did not recognize Him."s This tells us that Christ was sent into the world not to save the Jews from the Roman Empire; but to save us from our sins through the death and resurection. The Jews thought He had come to overthrow the Empire, but He turned out to be something else to them instead of what they pictured. This is why is own did not recieve Him.

The actions and verbs in this passage are came; which tells us that Jesus(God) came to the world to save us from our sins. Another action or verb is the phrase "But His own did not recieve Him." This is saying that because the Jews and everyone else thought He was going to save them from the Empire in the begining; but they later decided He was not their version of God because He did not do what they wanted Him to do.

This passage says taht God came into the world as Jesus Christ and was a stranger to His own because they did not recognize Him.

This passage says that man does not recognize Christ; but we can be saved from our sins through the death and resurection that happened. This also says that man has basically rejected God because they view Him as they want to.

The promises in verse 4 and 9 are That through Him we can have life and show the light that we have through Him to others. Also that by His death and resurection comes redemption and that when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior we can have joy through that and share His light and tell others about the death and resurection of Jesus Christ.

These verses tell us that because Christ was not what the world thought He was, the crusified Him. However, we can see that God used their evil intent, God used for good by the death and resurection of Jesus Christ through the crusifiction.

John 1:4-11 is a history verse because it is teaching us that Jesus (God)"Came to which was His own, but His own did not recieve Him." This is talking about Christ coming to earth and being rejected by people, and later died and rose again on the third day; which is an actual fact and part of history.

I feel like God is telling me that we live in a sinful world that worships everything but God and that most reject Him; but through Him we can gain eternal life with Him in Heaven if we accept that He died for our sins, rose on the third day, and that we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

This part of John encourages me because even though we have rejected God we can accept Him as our Lord and Savior, and that by believing in the death and resurection of Jesus Christ, we can have eternal life with Him.

John 1:1-4

Verses 1:1-4 of John say "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.

Some of the repeated words in this passage is Word; which means Jesus was with God in the beginning, he was the Word, and he is God.

Beginning is also another word repeated here. The statement "In the beginning was the Word" means that Jesus (God) was there before anything else was.

The actions and verbs in the verses are in Him all things were made; which is saying that God created everything on the earth. Also another verse; "in Him was life and that Life was the light of men." I think that this means that before the Fall of man, that man did not have the sin we have today in the world, but that Adam and Eve before the Fall were perfect in every way and they even could see God because he came to the earth at the time of the Fall. He was the one who was looking for them Genesis 3:8-9.

The passage of John 1:1-4 says that Jesus was God, is God, and will always be God. He also says that "In Him was life and that life was the light of men. This means that God first created man to be perfect but unfortunately, man sinned against God and that started a chain reaction of more sin and death throught the world until Christ comes His second time; being with us and having His Millinia Kingdom set up. But before that, Jesus came to earth so that we may belive in the Death and Reasurrection of Jesus Christ; and now we can be saved through Him and we can shine His light through by are actions and showing our faith to others.

This passage says that man has been made by God and "In Him was life, and that life was the light of men" this means that God has a special place for us in life, and He also says in one of the Gospels "How much are we than the birds!" This definitely is a description of God's special plan for humans in life.

This passage is history because it teaches us that God has always been around even before the creation of the universe.

God is telling me that he wants His light shown through us by actions and by faith so that we can teach other people about Christ's love, hope, and kindness for us.

I am encouaraged by this because it shows that God already had a plan for me and that He has plans for other people.
